Pioneering Generative AI in 2020: Launching a Scenario Generator with GPT-3 to Explore Future Opportunities

As co-lead, I developed and launched a public-facing AI-based Scenario Generator using the GPT-3 API when access was still highly limited. The product explored the potential of Generative AI, creating a novel tool that allowed users to quickly generate speculative future scenarios. With over 10,000 scenarios generated and significant public awareness (over 50,000 impressions across Linkedin and our own channels), the project demonstrated the powerful intersection of AI and futures thinking. At one point, we had to close the generator after it was posted on a large pro-Putin Telegram channel, which led to an influx of hundreds of Putin-related scenarios. Fun! Additionally, the generator was adopted by a business school for use in a scenario generation course.
